In 2016, Reshape hosted the first inaugural District Energy and Water Academy in partnership with EcoDistricts. Over three days, participants took part in expert-led workshops focused on the development of neighbourhood-scale utility systems. It was a great success with practitioners in attendance from Denver, CO; Mobile, AL; Aukland, NZ; Los Angeles, CA; New York, NY, San Francisco, CA and more.
In addition to our role as content lead, we hosted the skills sessions that took participants through tailored training. Will Cleveland spoke to the art of screening and feasibility, Gerard MacDonald addressed the tug-of-war between neighbourhood scale design and individual building construction, and Trent Berry discussed the continuum of ownership models for utility systems.
