In 2021, Reshape was engaged by Oxford Properties to develop a Low Carbon Playbook for their ground breaking Square One Development. Set to be one of the largest mixed-use developments in Canadian history, Square One is contemplating over 18 million square feet of new development, including 18,000 residential units and up to 3 million square feet of office.
Reshape crafted a Playbook that seeks to center carbon emissions in decision making as Square One continues to evolve. The technical concept of the Playbook includes advanced envelopes, block-scale thermal energy systems, and an advanced power grid.
Reshape led the project team, consisting of five subconsultants. The execution of the Low Carbon Playbook. Work was carried out in six phases:
- Visioning activities
- Low Carbon Pathways Study
- Business model analyses
- Creation of the Low Carbon Playbook
- Green Building Advisory with the City of Mississauga
- Assisting in the selection of an energy utility provider for the development
